Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about TrueDNS and DNS in general.
General
What is DNS?
DNS (Domain Name System) is like the phonebook of the internet. It translates human-readable
domain names like "example.com" into IP addresses that computers use to communicate. Without
DNS, you'd have to remember IP addresses to visit websites.
Why do I need DNS hosting?
If you own a domain, you need DNS to make it work. While domain registrars offer basic DNS,
a dedicated DNS provider like TrueDNS offers better performance, reliability, advanced
features like DNSSEC, and a proper SLA guarantee.
What record types do you support?
We support all standard DNS record types: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, CAA, and more.
SOA and NS records are managed automatically.

service for any reason, contact us within 30 days of your first payment for a full refund.
No questions asked.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes! You can change your plan at any time from your dashboard. Upgrades take effect
immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing
period.
Technical
What is DNSSEC and do I need it?
DNSSEC (DNS Security Extensions) adds cryptographic signatures to DNS records to prevent
spoofing and cache poisoning attacks. While not mandatory, it's highly recommended for any
domain handling sensitive data or email. We make it easy with one-click activation.
How do I migrate my DNS to TrueDNS?
- Export your zone from your current provider (BIND format)
- Create a new zone in TrueDNS and import the file
- Verify your records look correct
- Update your domain's nameservers at your registrar to point to our nameservers
- Wait for propagation (usually under 48 hours)
What are your nameservers?
Our nameservers will be displayed in your dashboard when you create a zone. You'll receive
4 nameservers to configure at your registrar for maximum redundancy.
How long does DNS propagation take?
Changes to your DNS records propagate globally within seconds on our network. However, if
you're changing nameservers at your registrar, full propagation across the internet can take
up to 48 hours due to caching by ISPs and other resolvers.
